Rolex – The perpetual rotor
The perpetual rotor is an innovation in wristwatch technology which was patened by Rolex in 1931. Continuous refinements over the years make this mechanism the most advanced self-winding watch in the world. Noiselessly, a semi-circular rotor, which pivots at a slightest movement, winds the main spring. Once the optimum tension is reached, a special splipping clutch prevents overwinding. This system provides for the utmost in reliable performance and accuracy, and has been generally adopted throughout the watchmaking industry.
