Watch movement by Larpent and Jurgensen; Copenhagen, Denmark, early 19th century; dia. 1½” (3.81 cm.).
The firm was founded in Roskilde in 1780, continuing into the 19th century. This movement by them is interesting for being a full plate watch without a fusee; also it is wound through the dial.
The extreme plainness of the movement contrasts with watches made in other countries at the period, as its purpose is purely functional. The trick plates give good bearing surfaces to the pivots and are fastened to the pillars by screws instead of being pinned.
