Watch movement by Larpent and Jurgensen; early 19th century; dia. 1½” (3.81 cm.).
This example is more typical of French or Swiss work. A fusee is provided and the bridge supporting the balance is decorated with pierced work; winding is done through the dial.
The top plate of the movement is thick but unlike the preceding example, it is pinned on; its thickness makes jewelled bearings less essential. The engraving of the name is very distinctive as is the catch at the bottom for securing the movement in the case. There is no separate bar for supporting the barrel.
